AoK back in 2000 on Zone.
after Koven, Chris, the Koreans, Etc left to play aoc full time they left aXe__SeeD__, iLLuMe_NuiSanCe, Extinct_HacKeR, TsC_Averix, Digital_Love, Xplos1ve, Eagl3s_Thief, TsC_Ubiquitous to dominate for a year or 2. Then Zone died. I started playing in 1999 and haven't really committed. Mostly just a few months in each year. So im still a noob. AoC has changed a lot since then. The experts back then will probably average 1700 now.
Also I think those who were not around during the era's of the names they are mentioning should probably withold commenting since they are only using second hand information & not their own opinions based on skills and cultures of the times.

All the old Koreans are legends. Koven, Grunt, KKaB, KmKm. The japanese player Halen and of course the only American to every even become close to a legend. The legend himself the Sheriff thats top legends for me. Gotta put Chris and Daut up there, because of longevity and overall skill of course, those guys been doing it for 15 years. Brazilians like Capoch. Germanys PG clan members like Fire. MeCountRaab. If i had to pick one ...... God, its a toss up between Sheriff and Koven.

Sorry didnt know this was an AoE I topic. I wasnt around for AoE I but i was there from the day one release of AoK. From what i hear the Sheriff was still top legend of AoE I and Maimin_Matty. They went on to pioneer AoK strats because they were hired by ensemble to game test. The sheriffs orilgnal Smush rec is still the best to this day for me. you gotta take into consideration that no one really optomized strategy yet and this dude just came up with this **** from nothing.

He played on MSN , (Forgot the name of the orange site after MSN) and VooBLy
1 time i had a power up and all my men gained constant HP, he attacked me with a villie with like 1 billion HP. This Guy knew every bug in every map, and was skilled in every map.
